Empowering communities through education and opportunity

In partnership with the Santos Foundation, Digikesen has played a leading role in transforming education and skills development opportunities across the Southern Highlands and Gulf regions.
Our collaboration spans multiple interconnected projects that strengthen the entire learning and training ecosystem – from teacher capacity building to vocational and distance learning.

At the heart of this partnership is the Pimaga VET & FODE Centre, a flagship model of integrated learning where Digikesen provides full project management, teacher mentoring, digital transformation, and curriculum alignment. We oversee the daily operations of the Centre, ensuring that Flexible Open Distance Education (FODE) and Vocational Education & Training (VET) programs meet national standards while responding to community needs.

Key Achievements

  • Implemented teacher capacity-building programs with classroom mentoring, curriculum delivery, and performance monitoring.
  • Introduced a digital learning ecosystem for 150+ students and teachers, including laptops, biometric attendance, and a School Management System.
  • Developed the Pimaga Roadmap 2026 to improve quality, infrastructure, governance, and sustainability.
  • Delivered leadership and EQ training to educators and aligned the VET curriculum (NC1–NC4) with NATTB standards to boost industry relevance and employability.

Impact

Our partnership with Santos Foundation has created a scalable model for inclusive, technology-enabled education in resource-limited areas. Together, we are building sustainable, community-driven education ecosystems that empower teachers, inspire learners, and align with Papua New Guinea’s National Education Plan (NEP 2020-2029) and long-term human capital goals.

Upgrading teachers, uplifting futures

Upgrading teachers, uplifting futures

Through the Partnerships for Improving Education (PIE) program under Abt Associates, Digikesen contributed to the foundational planning and coordination of the Teacher Upgrading Program (TUP) — a national initiative to strengthen the capacity and qualifications of early-grade teachers across Papua New Guinea.

Our role in the initial phase focused on supporting system design, coordination with higher education institutions, and ensuring that preparatory groundwork was both practical and data-driven.

Key Achievements

  • Coordinated with higher education institutions including Divine Word University (DWU), PNG Education Institute (PNGEI), and Innovative University of Enga (IUE).
  • Conducted HSE and baseline readiness surveys across institutions to identify gaps and resource needs.
  • Facilitated Language, Literacy, and Numeracy (LLN) assessments for DWU to evaluate entry standards and learner support.
  • Supported documentation, reporting, and alignment with PIE’s quality assurance frameworks.

Impact

By supporting the groundwork of the TUP, Digikesen helped establish a more efficient and coordinated teacher qualification pathway. Our involvement ensured that early stages were informed by accurate data, collaboration, and a strong focus on quality, access, and sustainability in PNG’s teacher professional development system.

Developing leaders from within

Digikesen has worked closely with NCSL to strengthen its people and performance culture through a series of customized Emotional Intelligence (EQ) and Leadership Development programs.

Our partnership began with Customer Service Officer (CSO) Workshops for front-line staff and evolved into an advanced EQ Leadership and Succession Planning Program for the management team.

Program Highlights

  • CSO workshops enhanced empathy, professionalism, and service excellence through real-world roleplays and case studies.
  • EQ Leadership and Succession Planning programs introduced LPI-based profiling, mentoring frameworks, and KPI-linked goal tracking.
  • Team-building sessions fostered collaboration, motivation, and shared accountability across departments.

Impact

NCSL now has a more emotionally intelligent, service-driven workforce. The programs nurtured confident front-line teams and empowered emerging leaders, embedding a culture of growth, empathy, and accountability across the organization.

Early learning that changes lives

Digikesen partnered with the Digicel Foundation to deliver one of Papua New Guinea’s first Certificate II in Early Childhood Education & Care (ECEC) programs — a pioneering initiative that strengthened the quality and professionalism of early childhood educators.

The program, implemented across NCD, Central Province, and Buka, introduced a blended learning model that combined classroom-based instruction, field practice, and guided mentoring — the first of its kind in PNG.

Program Highlights

  • Delivered comprehensive training to 20 young ECEC teachers, focusing on child development, daily planning, and safety standards.
  • Supported practical workplace assessments aligned with national competency frameworks.
  • Promoted parental engagement and community participation in early learning.

Impact

This initiative set a new benchmark for ECEC training in PNG, introducing sustainable blended learning that bridges theory and practice. It has empowered a new generation of early educators, improved early learning access, and raised preschool standards across communities.

Building bright beginnings and second chances

Digikesen has played a central role in establishing and managing the Edai Early Learning Centre and the Boera Early Learning Centre, two model initiatives demonstrating how strong early foundations can drive community transformation.

At Edai, Digikesen led the complete setup — from infrastructure planning and curriculum development to teacher training and classroom design. The centre delivers a play-based, child-centred curriculum tailored for PNG’s local cultural context.

In Boera, Digikesen worked hand-in-hand with community leaders to establish a community-owned ECEC centre, training teachers and caregivers in early childhood pedagogy, observation, and child safety.

To extend lifelong learning, Digikesen also initiated the Edai FODE Centre, providing second-chance education for youth and adults within the same community — bridging early learning with secondary-level certification.

Impact

Together, these centres demonstrate education as a community anchor — integrating early childhood education with lifelong learning. They have empowered teachers, engaged parents, and improved access to quality learning at every stage of life, laying the foundation for sustainable community growth and opportunity.
